The Quiet American

Bill and I had traveled to Cork, Ireland.  We went with Birdie, Annette, and Deidre.  On one of our expeditions, we came upon a small town.  It was a setting to one of our favorite movies,  The Quiet Man.

The lead actors are John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.  It is  about a yank who comes home to Ireland after a tragedy in the US.  In one of many scenes, there is a bar. It is called Cohen's. The actual name is Pat Cohen's.

We entered the pub.  It was so incredible to behold. They were even playing the movie on one of their tvs.  The area, where the scenes were shot, was small. I envisioned where the actors stood. I imagined where the cameras were placed during filming.

Of course, we had to take some pictures.

Guinness never tasted better!

Cheers!

Bill rested on the chair at the desk.  It is the same area the gentleman sat reading the paper, while shenanigans were occurring all around him in the movie. Bill is also sitting where Sean (John Wayne) sat and stated that Danaher (Victor McLaglen) had told a lie.

I will look at this movie with more fondness.  We will view it and probably yell at the screen that we were there!!!!
